Review: Newport Dunes

We recently stayed at Newport Dunes RV Resort in Newport Beach California for a week. It’s in a great location and has its own bay/beach with a ton of activities. It’s across the street from Balboa Island and next to Fashion Island shopping center. 24 hour gated and security patrolled. 50 amp power and most sites are satellite ready. There is a 4 star restaurant in the park. That’s all the positive.

The negatives here are the price and lack of site definition. Prices run from $69 to $269 depending on the size, location and dates you book. We booked a third row back 25×40 site for $115 a night which was the Good Sam discounted price. However, when we arrived we were upgraded to a bay side site at no additional cost. Bay side sites are front in so we had an amazing view of the bay out our huge Class A front windows. But the only thing separating us from our neighbors was a chain link fence with some shrubs growing in them. Not as bad as a parking lot but now much better. Lots of noise from one of our neighbors. But they did observe the 10:00 p.m. noise curfew. There is space for a toad (tow vehicle) but not a lot. Trash cans were at the other end of the park.

Overall this a good park for families with kids and if you want to be close to some of the upscale Newport Beach attractions. Also good if you can’t get into the other coastal RV parks. This place seems always have spaces available.
